Christmas Tag

This tag should be fun to do for the holidays!

"On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to me..."

1 Embarrassing moment: A 23-ish male patient marked "not sure" as to whether or not he was allergic to latex, so I asked him what happens when he is exposed to it. He really didn't know how to answer, so I asked if latex gloves affect him. He said he didn't think so because a physician used gloves with no reaction. I persisted... was it a balloon, and if so, does he swell up when he touches the balloon... well, long story short, he answered with "It's kind of an adult thing" I still didn't get it until my friend said, Stacey, just drop it. Then she explained that there is a form of birth control that is made from latex.... ( I didn't know my face could turn that shade of RED!)

Our 20th anniversary trip

Our 20th Anniversary was in August and I wanted to do something big... our friends had been talking about going down to WDW for the International Food and Wine Festival and wanted us to come, so we decided we would splurge for once. Lynn and Paul are friends of ours who worked at Epcot a few years ago and I travel down with Lynn every year for a girls-only trip, so I thought this would be a fun thing to do with Roger. Even though he isn't a die-hard Disney fan like his wife, he was a good sport and did very well! He did hurt his back on the fourth day and I sent him back to the hotel to rest while I played at the parks. ( He did fine... nothing a little ice and some pizza and football couldn't cure.)
I haven't loaded the pics from Epcot yet, but I'll share some fun we had at Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios!

So here we are at the Magic Kingdom. They have it all decorated for Halloween. Main Street is decked out with pumpkins, banners, scarecrows and there are kids and parents dressed up for Mickey's Not-so-scary Halloween Party. Believe me, there are some folks who go all out! I saw a family coming in as we were leaving and the Dad was Captain Hook, the Mom was Wendy, the kids were Peter Pan and Tinkerbell... and I'm not talking cheap costumes, either! I think I need to get back down there and go to the party too! It's another $60 bucks on top of your park admission, though. Hmmmm..... have to think about that one....
One of our first stops, the Haunted Mansion... we love this one, plus it is easy on Roger's back!
I tried to get a pic of the hitch-hiking ghosts... turned out pretty well considering...
And what is Halloween without Jack Skellington? Yeah, I posed him!

Next up, Disney's Hollywood Studios. ( aka MGM Studios ) This is the Pixar area of the park and Roger and I's favorite ride! It is the Toy Mania ride and it's new! It is like you are only 6 inches tall and waiting in line is like you are on the floor of Andy's bedroom with all the rest of the toys! Very Cool! Disney is all about the "details" and it is amazing!
Anyone remember having a View Master? Look closely and you'll see a Peter Pan scene!
Lincoln Logs, Tinker Toys, Barrel of Monkeys ? Yep, here they are!
...Even a monkey you may not have had in your barrel of monkeys!

Time for a parade, and look who's dancing down the street! It's Mr. Potato Head! Oh! and look! It's Boo, too!

Time to eat... so where do you eat when you are in Hollywood? I know! Let's eat at the Sci-Fi Drive-In Theater! Here is a place you can watch old clips of crazy sci-fi flicks... and your table is a convertable car! Fun, huh! Roger was LOVING it! He kept telling me that he had "seen that movie" and "seen this movie"... We had a nice time pretending to "park" !
This is a view of what it looks like. It is dark in there, so I hope you can all see it okay.

Um... this is the "Tower of Terror"... Roger wasn't having any of that one! But I've been on it and it is the bomb! Kinda like a free-fall, but the ride is different every time, so you don't know if you are going to fall just once or twice or even three times... LOVE IT!

One of my favorite places to take a picture. Walt and Mickey holding hands in front of Cinderella's castle. I was surprised that the park wasn't as busy as it has been all of the other times I have been here. Normally, you get alot of people around the statue and it bugs me... so I was happy about this one!

Even the birds are happy here! This is millet... looks like cattails but the heads are filled with seed... Disney birdies are some of the plumpest and happiest birds around!
I would've loved to have purchased this baby... a huge Mickey-shaped rice krispy treat, and it was about 3-inches thick, too... but $20 ? I think I'll make my own thank you! But Roger sure thought it looked tasty!!! YUMMY!
Just another detail to take a picture of.... Mickey Pumpkin decorations on the lightpost. They were everywhere!
And last, but DEFINATELY not least.... Captain Jack Sparrow! Forget the Mickey Rice Krispy Treat... I'll take him anyday!!! Boy did he look yummy.. and although it is not Johnny Depp, he was about as close to the character as I could imagine!

There are 3 other cameras with pictures on them that I haven't received copies of yet, so when they are available, we may have more to post!

Baby Panda Cub

Zoo Atlanta has a new tenant. Our Panda, Lun Lun has a baby boy! He is so cute, I just wanted to share him with ya'll !
If you would like to see him live, just log in to Zooatlanta.com and click on Panda Cam at the bottom. You can also learn about his big sister Mei Lan ( which means Atlanta Beauty ) too. I love our pandas! Hey, I don't have any kids, so I have to find something to dote over... and little Johnny doesn't have a "Johnny Cam"... LOL!

Maybe JD and Katie will get one.................???

A Gummy Tuck?

Yep. I know you are thinking, what the heck? But it's true. Yesterday, I had a "gummy tuck"...lol. For those wondering, it is also known as a gingivectomy. yeah. Gummy tuck is much easier. Basically, it is where a specialist goes in and "re-contours" the gums around your teeth. I have been in Ortho for what seems like 3 years now and my teeth are finally in the correct position. So, I went in to get a "fiberotomy" which is where the periodontist (gum specialist) clips certain fibers that are around your teeth. *these fibers tend to stretch when you have alot of rotation to do to get your teeth in alignment. By clipping these fibers, it should allow my teeth to stay in the corrected position.
got it?

Then the periodontist says: "I think I could make your smile alot nicer if I could just recontour the gingiva on your front 4 teeth... do you mind?" Well, I suppose not.... ( he knows best ) So I agreed. Today, I look like I had my front teeth knocked out and put back in. Fortunately, the pain is quite minimal, so I can't complain too much, but I don't need a halloween costume this year! All I have to do is smile and I'll frighten all the little ones that come around me! hahaha!

In a tropical state of mind

I know I am slow to get this up and I apologize to those of you who have been waiting... so here they are- some of the pics taken during our cruise to the Bahamas. I have been threatend with bodily harm if I post certain photos taken during one of the more exciting nights, so in order to protect myself, I have chosen to not put these up at this time. I still reserve the right to use them in the future if needed, so you may want to stay tuned... roflol!

7' Manta-ray in Atlantis' aquarium

Hey Mary! Are you going to swim all the way back to the boat to get to the all you can eat dessert bar?
I just love palm trees against the blue sky with fluffy white clouds.
Yours truly lookin' like a dork as usual.
It was Rachel's birthday, so we celebrated by going on a cruise!

Norma and Sharon mugging for the camera

Sovereign of the Seas at port on Nassau, Bahamas. It is the oldest ship in the fleet and will retire at the end of this month.
I took this one at Coco Cay, Royal Caribbean's private island... pretty water, huh!
Sharon is ready to shop at the straw market... this is her first trip outside the States and first time on a cruise ship... and as you can plainly see, she is having a fun time!
Rachel, Mary and I pose before heading over to Atlantis.
>
...and here is our Boss... the man, the legend (in his own mind) HAHA!! Dr. DeMercy and Tammy are fun to work with and they treat their staff very well and treat us to trips each year when we accomplish our yearly goals... we have only missed one year in the seven I have been with the team!

This is the closest I could find to the color of the waters in the Caribbean... so hard to describe, so I just took a pic! Isn't it pretty????

Hoped you enjoyed our cruise as much as we did! And I didn't even get sunburned... well, at least not where I put sunblock! So I missed a couple of areas, give me a break!

Who's got gas?

So I go on vacation to the Bahamas for a weekend, safely away from Hurricaine Ike, and get back to Atlanta only to find that there is a "problem" with the gas supply. Well, to be honest, it's more like a "crisis"... there is no gas to be found! Well, maybe that isn't being completely honest, but the stations that do have gas have hour-long waits and some stations are rationing.

I tried several stations here in my town to no avail...

I tried all different kinds of stations...

.... but no one seems to have any gas!

Everyone has taken down the fuel prices and we are at our vehicles' mercy...

Can we make it until the tankers bring in more gas???

Govenor Sonny Perdue has asked for an emergency waiver. Apparently, we here in the Atlanta area are only allowed "clean" fuel... due to the high pollution in our great city.

We need "dirty" fuel.

any fuel....

Heck, I'd take a horse and buggy! ( maybe the Amish aren't so naive) !!

I might just have to bring along my 6-foot garden hose so I can siphon a bit from the car parked next to me at Walmart.... (did I say that out loud?)

Well, I guess if I do run out of gas, I can always just stay home (which is what I have always wished I could do anyway) Hey! This fuel-shortage thing isn't such a bad idea afterall!

Now I might just get around to getting those cruise pictures posted on this blog.... WA-HOO!!!
